The algorithm
The algorithm is written first, translating nature's own code into an object.
sin(18θ) · cos(2θ)Each surface is a wave or terrain function evaluated point by point, then printed in plant-based PLA. Eleven objects, made to order in Teramo, Italy, by landscape architect Lorenzo Natali.

Polylactic acid: a bioplastic of plant origin, printed at 0.12 mm per layer.
Each shade comes out of the same process as the vessels: a landscape dynamic rewritten as rules and printed one layer at a time. Lit, that geometry stops containing and starts projecting: the lamp's own section, drawn across the room in light and shadow. The folds of PROFILUM LAMP hold the fragments picked up off the ground.

FDM printing in plant-based PLA, one layer at a time, started only once you order.

Water-tight. Fresh or dried stems go in directly, with no insert.
5–10 working daysPLA is a polymer made from plant biomass: cornstarch and sugarcane processed into the raw material for printing. In everyday use it behaves as a rigid, durable bioplastic, suited to any interior space. It decomposes in industrial composting without leaving toxic residue.
